Gennady Golovkin sounds off on Canelo Alvarez: I always knew he was a drugs cheat
Gennady Golovkin has insisted he always knew Canelo Alvarez was taking steroids, because he could see needle marks on his muscles.
Alvarez was flagged for two failed drugs tests by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association, but the Mexican does not seem to be in danger of receiving a suspension.
The middleweight tested positive for banned substance clenbuterol, but his rematch with Golovkin on May 5 has not been canceled.

The Nevada Athletic Commission are investigating the results, while Alvarez has denied allegations of cheating by insisting contaminated meat caused the failed tests.
Golovkin had been holding his tongue on the matter, but the middleweight king has now let loose on his rival.
‘Before the first fight, I knew he was not clean,’ Golovkin said. ‘Have a look at the video. He used some pills.
‘It was pretty obvious when his muscles were all with traces of injections. I’ve known it for a long time.’
Alvarez’s tainted meat defence has been successfully used before by Mexican fighters and the 27-year-old has already received the full backing of the WBC and WBA.
Golovkin, who is training at his base in Big Bear in California, ridiculed Alvarez’s defence and insisted boxing’s rulers are trying to cover up his cheating.
‘Come on, I told you, it’s not meat,’ Golovkin said.
‘Canelo’s team are using these drugs and everybody’s trying to pretend it’s not happening.
‘This guy, he knows. This is not his first day in boxing. He proves he gets benefits from everyone and he can get away with it.
‘The commentators, commission, doping commission – this is a very bad business, (it’s) not sport. Check him on a lie detector and then we can find out everything.’
