Jurgen Klopp is in close contact with Timo Werners camp as he looks to push through a stunning £87.5million transfer for the Germany international this summer, reports claim.

The Liverpool boss is a huge admirer of the attacker, who is said to be open to a move away from Red Bull Leipzig this summer.

Werner has become unsettled by talk of Lepzig boss Ralph Hassenhuttl leaving the club and has decided that he sees his own future elsewhere.

Liverpool have already secured the transfer of Naby Keita from the Bundesliga outfit but Klopp wants his team-mate to also make the move to Anfield.

However, Werner played down talk of a summer transfer and insisted that Leipzig would not sell him.

Ralph Rangnick says to me that I will stay, no matter what happens – as will those around me, I think we will have two or three very good new players coming in the summer.
