You could get your hands on 50 classic cars up for auction in London

A collection of classic cars will be wheeled out in London later this month, and petrol-heads will have a chance to get their hands on them.

Auctioneer Coys is gearing up for its Spring Classics auction with 50 classic cars going under the hammer.

Among the top picks is a 1963 Bentley Continental Mulliner Park Ward S3, and Coys said that while it is being offered at no reserve, it could go for £40,000.

The car was retired in the early 1990s, and was expected to undergo restoration at some point but never did, which has led Coys to crown it "a genuine time capsule". It remains in original factory specification and comes with a comprehensive history file, including a letter confirming the original build information and the original tool kit.

The car went through three decades under one owner and is now being offered on the open market for the first time.

On the description online, Coys calls it "a very rare beast indeed", saying that "with a little time and care this will be back on the road in its former glory".

Chris Routledge, chief executive of Coys, said:

Our Spring Classics auction has for decades been a prelude to motoring season which is now very much upon us.

This year we have a stunning selection 50 fine historic and classic motor cars looking for a new owner, ranging from three original-bodied pre-war Rolls Royces through to a genuine barn find 1960s Bentley S3 Continental Coupe by Mulliner.

The Rolls-Royce trio features a 1920 Rolls-Royce 40/50hp Silver Ghost by Barker, expected to go in the range of £60,000 – £80,000, a 1938 Rolls-Royce 25/30 Sports Saloon by Thrupp and Maberly, and a 1934 Rolls-Royce 20/25 Sports Saloon by Hooper.

There will also be a handful of classic Jaguars on show, including an original right hand drive 1963 E-Type Series I 3.8 litre Roadster.

The auction will be held on Tuesday 24 April at the Royal Horticultural Society from 7pm, along with a viewing on the Monday beforehand from 12pm to 8pm.
