Jose Mourinho has revealed he immediately gave Paul Pogba a warning after the Frenchman scored twice in the 3-2 comeback win over Manchester City last weekend.

The France international put in a man-of-the-match display as the Red Devils came from 2-0 down to beat their local rivals and delay Pep Guardiolas side from winning the Premier League title.

The performance from Pogba will have come a relief for Mourinho and the player himself after a difficult few months.

The midfielder found himself out of form and out of the Manchester United starting XI but the two-goal show offered a reminder of his capabilities.

Mourinho has revealed he spoke to Pogba after the game about his performance levels, warning the 25-year-old he must be more consistent and work at it in training.

I told Paul after the City game I dont expect him to be man of the match every week. I dont expect him to score two goals every week, either, but I would like him to be consistent to a certain level, Mourinho said.

The challenge he has is to find a degree of stability and not to keep going from good match to so-so match to bad match.

The best way to achieving that is to aim for stability at training level, during the working week, and from what I have seen in the past two or three weeks I am really happy with him.
