Aguero urges City to smash Premier League points record

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has challenged the Premier League champions to keep their foot on the accelerator and win their remaining five games of the season.
City sealed their fifth top-flight title on Sunday when rivals Manchester United, needing to avoid defeat to prolong the inevitable, slipped to a shock 1-0 defeat to Championship-bound West Brom at Old Trafford.
Five further victories in fixtures against Swansea, West Ham, Huddersfield, Brighton and Southampton would see City smash the 100-point barrier and eclipse Chelseas previous Premier League points record of 95, which was set in 2005.
“Were looking forward to the celebrations, but first we have five important games to play and we want to win them all,” said Aguero. “Lets enjoy the moment together with our fans and finish strongly.”
This seasons Premier League crown represents a third in City colours for Aguero, having sealed the title on the final day of the 2011-12 and 2013-14 campaigns against Queens Park Rangers and West Ham respectively.
City skipper Vincent Kompany spoke in the aftermath of Uniteds defeat against West Brom of his determination to see Pep Guardiolas charges create a trophy-winning dynasty at the club, and Aguero concurs.
“This season has been incredible and the football weve played has been the best Ive been involved with while at the club,” added the 29-year-old. “Its been a pleasure to play with this team and be part of everything weve achieved this season.
“We have scored great goals, played fantastic football and learned together under Pep. Now, the trick is making sure we kick on again next season and come back even stronger.”
City are set to receive the Premier League trophy after their final home game of the season against Huddersfield on 6 May.
