Pochettino plays down worries over City’s ability to dominate

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has played down concerns that Premier League champions Manchester City will leave the rest of English football trailing in their wake again next season.

City have romped to their fifth top-flight title with a joint-record of five matches remaining, while City skipper Vincent Kompany has already floated the possibility of Pep Guardiolas charges creating a dynasty.

The likes of Paris Saint-Germains Kylian Mbappe, Wilfried Zaha of Crystal Palace and Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara have already been linked with summer moves to big-spending City, although Pochettino is not worried.

“I am not concerned,” said Pochettino, whose side play Brighton at the Amex Stadium on Tuesday.

“Yes of course if they invest money and bring in players that can improve their squad, of course they are sure to compete to be the best team in the Premier League again.

“My concern is to try to win on Tuesday, after that I am not thinking about what Man City is going to do. It is nothing to worry about because it is still so far until next season.”

Spurs can move 10 points clear of fifth-placed Chelsea with victory, while Brighton could take a major step towards guaranteeing their Premier League safety.
