Manchester City dominates Premier League team of the year

Five Manchester City players have been named in the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) team of the year, as the stars of Pep Guardiola's all-conquering side won over their fellow professionals.

Defenders Kyle Walker and Nicolas Otamendi, midfielders Kevin de Bruyne and David Silva and striker Sergio Aguero all represent the newly-crowned Premier League champions were all voted into the team of the year by players.

Tottenham were the next-best represented side thanks to striker Harry Kane, midfielder Christian Eriksen and centre-back Jan Vertonghen. Despite being second in the league no outfield Manchester United players joined goalkeeper David De Gea in the the team of the year. The Spaniard has been afforded the accolade in five out of the last six seasons, while the last outfield players form Old Trafford to make the grade were Robin Van Persie, Michael Carrick and Rio Ferdinand.

Liverpool's Mo Salah, current top scorer in the league with 30 goals, is named alongside Kane and Aguero in the forward positions.

PFA Championship Team of the Year

Championship champions-elect Wolves were unsurprisingly the best-represented side in the PFA Championship team of the year with three players.

Despite occupying one of the automatic promotion spots for most of the season, Cardiff only have Sol Bamba in the team of the year while surprise package Millwall are not represented.
