Alvaro Morata cut a frustrated figure after being substituted off by Antonio Conte during Chelseas Premier League fixture against Burnley.

Spain international Morata, who joined the Blues last summer from Real Madrid, endured a frustrating evening at Turf Moor, failing to make an impact before missing a glorious chance.

With Chelsea leading 1-0, thanks to Kevin Longs unfortunate first-half own goal, Morata found himself clean through but fired his shot wide of the post.

Burnley then equalised through Ashley Barnes before Victor Moses regained Chelseas lead with a crisp strike from inside the box.

Morata was replaced by Eden Hazard with 20 minutes remaining and the striker was goaded as he made his way off the pitch, with fans happy to remind him of his miss.

He then let his frustration get the better of him as he reached the dug-out, engaging with some Burnley fans before taking off his boots and shin pads and slamming them on the ground.

Fellow Spaniard Cesc Fabregas attempted to calm him down.

On the pitch, Chelsea were able to hold on to their 2-1 lead to keep their faint hopes of qualifying for the Champions League alive.

The Blues are now five points adrift of fourth-placed Tottenham with four games remaining. Burnleys defeat sees them stay in seventh.

Speaking to Sky Sports immediately after the game, goalscorer Moses said: I thought we deserved the three points today from start to finish.

It is not an easy place to come and win. We want to take each game as it comes. We cant right ourselves off. We just need to finish as strongly as we can.

On Moratas frustrating evening at Turf Moor, former Chelsea and Burnley defender Frank Sinclair said: It sums up the second half of his season, things are just not coming off for him.

In one-on-ones you just dont fancy him. He should score there. Its the frustration [coming out] – no player likes coming off.
