Great Britains Johanna Konta and Heather Watson suffered a heartbreaking defeat in the Fed Cup as Japan booked their return to the World Group with a dramatic win.
Konta beat Naomi Osaka 6-3 6-3 in Sundays opening singles match, before Watson was beaten 7-6 (9-7) 6-4 to Kurumi Nara.
In the deciding doubles encounter, Japan rallied from one set down to win 6-3 3-6 3-6 and secure promotion to the World Group of the Fed Cup.
