Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain admits hes gutted to be ruled out of Englands World Cup campaign but says Gareth Southgates side can do something special in Russia.
The 24-year-old was stretchered off after twenty minutes in Liverpools 5-2 win against Roma at Anfield on Tuesday night after hurting his knee in a tackle.
Though Liverpool are awaiting the results from a full scan, the club confirmed today that Oxlade-Chamberlain is out for the rest of the season and will miss the World Cup this summer.
Oxlade-Chamberlain admits hes devastated to have sustained the injury but the midfielder used his message on Instagram to pay respect to the Liverpool fan that was left in critical condition after being attacked by Roma fans before the match.
Absolutely devastated to have picked up this injury at such a crucial time in the season, said Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Gutted I wont be able to play any further part in the Champions League run for Liverpool, and also the World Cup with England. But now its all about supporting the boys and getting behind them.
I know we have what it takes to do something special in the tournament. Im going to give everything I have to make sure im back as quickly as possible.
However this all pales in comparison to how the family of the Liverpool fan badly hurt before last nights game must be feeling. My thoughts are with him and his loved ones. Thank you for all your kind words, messages and support. Ill see you soon #YNWA
