This FTSE 100 company will start granting online degrees this year
Pearson — the FTSE 100 education products company that formerly owned the Financial Times — and the University of Sussex are teaming up for a 10-year partnership that will let people earn postgraduate degrees online.
“We have responded to the growing demand from students around the world and across the UK for more flexible ways of studying,” Adam Tickell, the University of Sussex vice chancellor, said.
“These new degrees will give hundreds more people that opportunity, fitting around their lifestyles and other commitments.”

University of Sussex educators will teach the courses — the school wants to provide the same teaching and learning quality that takes place in its classroom — and the goal is to enroll 1,000 distance learners within the first five years.
Rod Bristow, the Pearson UK president, said this “opened up” higher education model will benefit UK and international students.
International marketing will be the first online degree offered, and the coursework starts in September. Further degrees will include energy policy and sustainable development, and the courses are designed with a “carousel model”, which ensures that a module starts every two months.
