Southampton and sponsor Virgin Media reduce ticket cost for Everton trip

Southampton and their main sponsor, Virgin Media, are to subsidise the cost of tickets for fans travelling to Everton for their crunch Premier League match on Saturday.

Saints fans will only have to pay £10 per ticket instead of £30 after the club and their sponsor pledged to cover the remainder of the price.

The trip to Merseyside represents a must-win game for Southampton, who are currently in the relegation zone and trail 17th-place Swansea by a single point with three games remaining.

Virgin Media has also cut the cost of coach travel for fans by £5 to £23.

The telecommunications firm has previously subsidised the ticket price of away fans visiting Southampton's St Mary's home.

"We're proud to once again reward Southampton fans for their passionate support this season by working with the club to provide subsidised tickets and travel for this match," said Virgin Media's Brigitte Trafford.

"Football supporters are at the heart of the game and we know the level of commitment they make to watch their team on the road so we hope this will help make their day-out that much better."
