David De Gea has stated Manchester United finishing second in the Premier League is simply not enough and the club need to be doing more.

Uniteds second place is their highest finish since winning the title in 2013, and despite the slow progress, the Spanish keeper isnt completely happy with where United are currently at.

De Gea has previously been linked with a move away from Old Trafford to Real Madrid, and while hes yet to officially announce he wants to leave, his disapproval at Uniteds league challenge may turn his head if Madrid come calling again.

We have to be fighting hard to win something and we have that opportunity next week [in the FA Cup final against Chelsea].

You get nothing for coming second or getting close to the league leaders.

In the end, you always have to be fighting to win something, as thats what this club and the fans really deserve and so its just that – second place is not enough.

Its what this club has an obligation to do – get through to cup finals, go on to win them, lift silverware and continue to make this club even bigger.

United take on Chelsea in the FA Cup final on May 19 at Wembley in their last chance for silverware this season.
