Cloud-based phone firm Aircall raises $29m to ‘reinvent the business phone’
Cloud-based phonecalling startup Aircall has raised $29m (£21m) in venture capital funding, saying it has plans to "reinvent the business phone".
Aircall integrates its internet phonecall technology into the software tools used by businesses – already it has partnered with Salesforce, customer service business Zendesk, customer messaging firm Intercom, marketing platform Hubspot, and office software suite creator Zoho.
The funding round, led by Transferwise and Revolut backer Draper Esprit, will be used to develop partnerships with more brands, and will help Aircall hire more talent in Europe and the US.
“Since our first investment in 2015, its been clear that Aircall is addressing a major need for the modern business," said Bernard Liautaud, managing partner at Balderton Capital which also participated in the funding round.
"They have the potential to be a transformative business and we cant wait to see the next chapter in their growth."
NextWorld Capital, eFounders and Newfund also contributed to the funding round, which brings the total raised by Aircall in its life so far to $40.5m.
Most recently, the business launched its "Aircall Now" service which allows voice calling within business messenger platforms. Already, the firm handles millions of calls per day.
