And the Daily Mail now claim Juventus have asked United if they want to sign Mandzukic.

Juventus are hoping to complete a transfer for Uniteds right-back Matteo Darmian and expect that deal to go through soon as the Italian is keen on a return home.

Mandzukic, 32, is available for around £12million and has consistently proven his pedigree at various clubs.

Spells at Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid and Juventus have all yielded silverware and United could be the towering strikers next destination.

Mourinho is keen to bring in more options in attack and Mandzukic can play on the left wing or up front.

Despite the interest in Mandzukic, Mourinho is set to focus on recruiting more defenders this summer.
