Sloane Stephens lashes out after French Open final defeat
Sloane Stephens took aim at the media after her French Open final defeat to Simona Halep for being her biggest haters.
The American enjoyed a fine run in Paris but was beaten by the world No. 1 6-3 4-6 1-6, having led by a set and a break.
Clearly upset in the aftermath of the loss, Stephens lashed out over coverage of her endeavours on the WTA Tour.
When asked to put her incredible return over the past year into a word, she said: One word? Perseverance maybe. Keep going when the going is tough. Always believe in yourself when others dont believe in you.
Can I just state for the record that all of you guys were tweeting that I have a losing record anywhere but in the United States? So I think that Ive done very well to reach the final of the French Open.

So if any of you guys want to tweet that Id be very happy, Id give you guys a like, a retweet or something.
You guys seem only want to say shes 0 and 8 in the other countries. Its you and you, a lot of you.
So I just want to say for the record I dont know what I am now but its better than what I was.
When asked if thats the reason she thanked everyone but the media in her speech, she added: Yes, exactly.
You guys are my biggest haters.
