World-class goalkeeper De Gea was on the verge of leaving United for Real Madrid three years ago but his deadline day switch broke down due to paperwork issues.
The Spanish heavyweights have remain interested in signing De Gea ever since and could launch a summer move to make him their new number one ahead of the 2018-19 season.
During Spains media day ahead of the 2018 World Cup, De Gea was once again probed about his future at Old Trafford.
And the 27-year-old responded by saying: My future? The important thing is the World Cup and not to think of anything else that can divert you or upset you.
You have to be focused on having a good World Cup – we are all good. Hopefully we can go far and win.
Football is football and a thousand things can happen.
But Im always calm. Come what may, Ill be the same. It is important to be focused and be 100 per cent.
De Gea has developed into one of the best shot-stoppers in the world at the Theatre of Dreams and has been named in the PFA Team of the Year four times.
He will hope to help Spain enjoy a productive run in Russia – Julen Lopeteguis side are one of the favourites to lift the trophy at the end of the tournament.
We are very excited, there is a good team, a good group. We are going with hope, De Gea added.
