Tiger Woods tips ONE player to succeed at the US Open: 'That short game is off the charts!

Tiger Woods has highlighted rival contender Phil Mickelson as someone who is more than capable of finally winning the US Open this weekend.

Mickelson, the current world No. 20, needs just a US Open triumph to complete the career Grand Slam.

And while Woods himself is set to tee off at Shinnecock on Thursday, he believes his fellow countryman has the ability to finally claim a US Open trophy.

Phils won umpteen tournaments all around the world, and hes finished second in this event six times, Woods said.

I mean, of all the events, you would think that this would be the one that he would have, the least chance to win because of the way hes driven it for most of his career.

But that short game of his is off the charts. And, a U.S. Open is about wedging it. It really is.

I mean, you can spray it a little bit here and there, but youve got to be able to get it up and down from 100 yards. Were all going to face it.

And hes been one of the best of all time at doing that, and so hes given himself — hes made some of the more difficult pars that you have to make to win this Championship

Its just that he hasnt, but hes come so close. For him to be able to somehow pull it off at his age, I dont think its ever been done at that age.

But also, to complete the career Grand Slam would be an unbelievable task and unbelievable accomplishment.

Woods is paired with Dustin Johnson and Justin Thomas for their Thursday tee off, while Mickelson finds himself with Jordan Spieth and Rory McIlroy.
