Ian Wright backs Unai Emery and picks out two major positives from Arsenals defeat against Chelsea

Ian Wright has offered his full support to Unai Emery despite the new Arsenal manager presiding over the clubs worst start to a season since 1992.

After last weekends defeat to champions Manchester City, Emerys side remain pointless from their first two games following Marcos Alonsos late goal which handed Chelsea a 3-2 win in Saturdays London derby at Stamford Bridge.

Arsenal face West Ham, also without a point from their opening two matches, at the Emirates next weekend and Wright feels Arsene Wengers successor can take heart from the performance of summer signing Matteo Guendouzi.

The 19-year-old impressed at the heart of his sides midfield, while Wright was also buoyed by Emerys decision to take Granit Xhaka off at half-time and withdraw an ineffective Mesut Ozil with just over 20 minutes remaining.

So many positives to take from yesterdays loss! Guendouzi, substitutions, he wrote on Twitter.

I said it will take time, may be quicker than I thought with this guy. Behind you all the way Boss!

Emery, himself, urged Arsenal supporters to remain calm ahead of a run of winnable fixtures against the likes of West Ham, Newcastle and Cardiff.

He said: I think we need to keep the players calm and continue working. I know we need to improve things, I know we need to push the players to work with our ideas.

But for me, there are many positive things in the first match against Manchester City. Its clear that at the moment we are at a difference from them.

Then today, I think the team have worked and had chances in the match. And then with the young players it is a process.

They are playing and they are growing every touch with their quality and our demanding.
