Andy Murray reveals biggest concern ahead of US Open campaign

Andy Murray admits he has no idea how his body will react if he is forced to go the distance at the US Open.

The 2012 champions is set to make his first appearance at a Grand Slam event in 14 months following a lengthy injury lay-off.

Murray was beaten 1-6 6-1 4-6 by the French 16th seed Lucas Pouille 10 days ago at the Western and Southern Open, and has played just seven matches following his latest comeback attempt.

Having not played a five-set match for a long time, I wont know how my body will cope with that until I actually get there and do it, he told the BBC.

Im sure Ill be able to tough it out if I need to – but it might not be particularly comfortable.

Thats something I will find out if Im in that situation.

It is important for me to go through that and see exactly where Im at, to see how I feel after playing an extremely long match.

That will inform what I do over the next few months as well, maybe show I need to adjust things building up to Australia next year.

Im glad to be back competing in a Slam and its going to be positive for me putting myself in that position again.

Regardless of how he performs, Murray is delighted to back at one of his favourite venues and events on the tennis calendar.

I enjoy the tournament because of the energy. When I was younger I used to love coming to visit the city and the tournament itself is very different to the other Slams.

It has an amazing energy, it is a great place to play, I love the centre court and having played my first Grand Slam final here, and then winning my first Grand Slam here, I have some great memories.
