Saying goodbye? Jose Mourinho applauds Manchester United fans after humiliating Spurs loss
Is the writing on the wall for Jose Mourinho?
The Manchester United manager has clashed with his superiors during a summer of turmoil and the latest defeat to Tottenham Hotspur may well prove to be the final nail in the coffin.
Goals from Harry Kane and Lucas Moura handed Mauricio Pochettinos side a 3-0 win at Old Trafford – a result that followed on from Uniteds 3-2 defeat to Brighton last weekend.
There have been question marks over whether Mourinho will survive the season in Manchester after clashing with executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward over failure to add new recruits to his side.
And after the loss to Spurs, Mourinho made a move that many believed could be his last as Manchester United manager.
The Portuguese walked over to the Stretford End and stood applauding the Manchester United supporters who stayed until the end, while holding a fans scarf.

In response, the fans chanted his name but many suspected that may have been Mourinhos way of bidding farewell to the club.
I'll be very surprised if that wasn't Mourinho waving goodbye. #MUFC

Have to say after watching the #ManUSpurs #ManUtd game tonight…. Mourinho doing his best David Moyes impression. … By bringing Feleini on….. But even that didn't work…. Looked like he was saying goodbye to the fans at the end #MourinhoOut ???
