Gary Andersons superb 2018 continued over the weekend as he claimed the Champions League of Darts trophy for the first time.

The Flying Scotsman was in sublime form in Brighton as he beat world number one Michael van Gerwen and defending champion Mensur Suljovic on Sunday, before battering Peter Wright 11-4 in the final.

It has been a major trophy-laden year for the 47-year-old who has already won the UK Open and the World Matchplay in 2018, earning him a very decent amount of prize money in the process.

The world number four picked up £100,000 for winning the Champions League of Darts on Sunday, which took his prize money for 2018 well past £500,000.

Dating back to, and including, the 2018 PDC World Championship, where Anderson reached the quarter-finals, the Scot has now earned £529,500 this year, as per DartsDatabase.

Im over the moon to win, it was a hard weekend and I struggled at times but came good in the end, said Anderson.

I just turn up and play my game but its going alright so far this year. Its been a good weekend.

Unfortunately for Anderson, the Champions League of Darts is a non-ranking event so that whopping £100k prize does not effect the Order of Merit and he stays fourth behind Michael van Gerwen, Peter Wright and Rob Cross.

However, it keeps up the hugely popular year for the two-time world champ who pocketed £115,000 at the Matchplay, £70,000 at the UK Open and £80,000 for a semi-final run in the Premier League.

Andersons next chance for major silverware will come at the World Grand Prix in Dublin which runs from 30 September – 6 October.

The Scot reached the final in Dublin in 2016 and will have the chance to add another £100k to his years winnings.
