Eden Hazards stunning last-gasp winner to knock Liverpool out of the Carabao Cup came as no surprise to Chelsea team-mate Ross Barkley.

The Belgian was named among the substitutes at Anfield and came onto the field just moments before Daniel Sturridges acrobatic overhead kick to open the scoring in the 58th minute.

Emerson replied with a scrambled finish from close-range to bring the sides level in the 79th minute and the stage was set for Hazard.

Chelseas talisman jinked around several Liverpool defenders to find space in the box before unleashing a powerful drilled strike past Simon Mignolet with five minutes remaining of normal time.

On comparisons with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, Barkley told The Telegraph: Compared to them, they are probably a lot more selfish than Eden is.

He is not a selfish player. He is happy getting two assists and the team winning. He is adding goals and he keeps improving.

What he has done against Liverpool, honestly hes doing it every day in training. Its no surprise to us. At the minute, he is the best player in the world, I believe.

Youre not surprised when you see him do it in a game like that. But what a goal! Hes been showing it for the last five or six years and he is establishing himself in the top three players in the world.

At the minute, hes probably the best player in the world, the way he is playing. He is producing things like that on the pitch.
