Gary Neville believes Manchester Uniteds problems started when the club axed David Moyes after eight months at the club in 2014.
The former Everton boss took over from Sir Alex Ferguson, but struggled to live up to expectations and was shown the door despite signing a six-year deal.
Jose Mourinho is now overseeing a current crisis at United, with the club equalling the record Moyes set for the worst ever start to a Premier League season.
With reports of player unrest and in-fighting at the club, as well as very public falling outs, Neville pinpointed when United set themselves on the path to self-destruction.
This mess started when United sacked David Moyes after eight months and we lost all sense of the values that the club had been built on for 100 years.

Its not the manager its the lack of football leadership above him. They are bouncing all over the place with no plan, Neville said.

When they sacked him after eight months it went into pinball, reactive mode and chasing it. No plan.
Mourinho has hit out at his players and club officials during the turmoil, insisting he was not backed in the summer transfer window.
Alexis Sanchez was the latest player to feel the wrath of Mourinho, as the Chilean was dropped completely from the matchday squad that took on West Ham on Saturday.

United lost that game 3-1 and there are now whispers that Mourinho could be fired in the coming weeks.
While Mourinho continues to fight for his position at United, Moyes went on to endure a dismal managerial life after Old Trafford.
The Scotsman was sacked by Real Sociedad after just a year in charge, and resigned from his post at Sunderland in his next job when the Black Cats were relegated into the Championship in 2016.

Moyes then took up the head coach role at West Ham, but did not have his six-month contract extended at the end of the 2017/18 season.
