Thierry Henry offered Aston Villa job but ex-Mourinho assistant Rui Faria remains in frame
Thierry Henry has been offered the Aston Villa job, in what would be his first stint in management.
The legendary Arsenal and Barcelona striker is considering taking his first jump into management, with Villa seeking a replacement for Steve Bruce.
Bruce was removed from his position in farcical fashion after a supporter threw a cabbage at him and find themselves floundering in 15th place in the Championship.
Henry is currently working as Roberto Martinezs assistant manager with Belgium, but is keen to take the plunge into management sooner rather than later.
And billionaire owners Nassef Sawaris and Wes Edens have offered him the Villa job, according to the Mirror.
However, the deal is far from done. Henry wants full control over the transfer budget, which may prove to be a sticking point.
Chief executive Christian Purslow wants to appoint a new sporting director, with former Valencia director of football Jesus Pitarch topping the list of candidates set to be installed.
Purslow is in charge of the recruitment process and could complete the hiring of Henry next week, although others remain in the frame.

They include Jose Mourinhos former assistant manager Rui Faria, according to the Telegraph.
Faria left the Manchester United managers backroom team to look for his first managerial job and is believed to be under consideration along with Brentford boss Dean Smith.
