Liverpool loanee Harry Wilson reveals the text Jurgen Klopp sent him after wondergoal v Manchester United

Liverpool loanee Harry Wilson has revealed he received a text message from Jurgen Klopp after his spectacular goal against Manchester United in the Carabao Cup.

With United leading last months cup fixture at Old Trafford 1-0, Wales international Wilson smashed home a 30-yard free-kick to equalise for Derby.

The Championship outfit took the lead with five minutes remaining, only for Marouane Fellainis injury-time goal to send the tie to penalties.

But it was Derby who triumphed 8-7 in the shootout as Frank Lampard secured the most famous victory of his fledgling managerial career.

Reflecting on his stunning goal, Wilson revealed he received a message from Klopp after the match.

Speaking ahead of Wales UEFA National League clash with Spain on Thursday, he said: I have been practising a bit and if I can hit one half as good as the other night [against United] I will be happy.

I think the Liverpool fans enjoyed it… Jurgen Klopp messaged me after the United game.

He said: “Fantastic free-kick, really great football”. Its great to hear from the manager whose team you want to be in in the future.

Wilson, 21, spent a decade in Liverpools academy before making his first-team debut in January 2017.

Following loan spells at Crewe Alexander and Hull City, he signed a new five-year contract at Liverpool, before joining Derby for the duration of the 2018-19 campaign.

And Wilson revealed how former Chelsea and England midfielder Lampard contacted him prior to the move to outline his philosophy.

He told me about how he wanted his team to play made me realise it was the right club for me.

Since Ive been there Ive learned a lot. The way weve played in the last month or so has shown how weve progressed as a team.

I feel fit and strong and am really enjoying my football at the minute.
