Arsenal chief Raul Sanllehi speaks out on Manchester United and Chelsea target Aaron Ramsey

Raul Sanllehi has suggested that Arsenals decision to let Aaron Ramsey leave is for the best of the club.

Ramsey, 27, is out of contract at the end of the 2018/19 campaign and negotiations over a new deal at Arsenal have broken down, with Manchester United and Chelsea interested in signing the midfielder.

The Welshman was initially expected to sign a new contract but the north London outfit have now accepted defeat. Overseas clubs such as Barcelona and Juventus are even allowed to talk with Ramsey in January.

Sanllehi, who was appointed Director of Football at Arsenal following Ivan Gazidis departure, stressed that all decisions are made based on what best suits the club.

Asked about Ramseys situation, he told BBC Sport: I am not here to talk about individual cases but to talk more of the philosophy we are bringing.

Any decision that we take is thoroughly discussed, debated among several professional people sharing one common objective, which is what is best for the club.

Any decision we take along this way, is always going to be based on whether this is good or bad for Arsenal.

If its a responsible decision or if it can be detrimental for Arsenal, that is basically our main criteria in every step of the decision making.

Unai Emery refused to comment on the Ramsey saga ahead of Arsenals clash with Leicester on Monday evening.

For me January is very far [away]. Im thinking about Mondays match first, the Arsenal manager said.

I want every player to stay OK, with the mentality to prepare, to play and [be] together to win.

The football, the future is tomorrow. My reason, I explain to every player and to you also, I want the mentality for the next match. Individual things are not for me to speak about now.

He added: I want his performance like the other players. For example, in the last match he started on the bench, then he played 25 minutes with this performance.

On Monday its the same if he starts in the first eleven or on the bench, to come with the focus for this match to help us. Its not different for other players.
