Zlatan Ibrahimovic joked that hes very expensive when pressed on rumours of a possible return to Manchester United in January.

The 37-year-old Swede won the Community Shield, the EFL Cup and the Europa League in his debut season at United before joining LA Galaxy midway through the next campaign following a serious knee injury.

Many have put Ibrahimovics name forward as an emergency option for United this winter as Romelu Lukakus continues to struggle in front of goal under Jose Mourinho.

The Belgian striker is without a goal in his last eight matches for United but is expected to maintain his place up front when Mourinhos men host Everton this weekend.

Mourinho poured cold water on the speculation surrounding Ibrahimovic and defended Lukaku ahead of Uniteds clash with Everton.

Asked if Lukaku would be rested at Old Trafford, Mourinho replied: Well against Juventus to give him a break, I dont think [Michael] Carrick can play as a striker, so against Juventus or we play with the players that we did or we decide to give a rest to Lukaku, then [Marcus] Rashford, who plays as a winger.

We are not in the best situation to try to think about resting players or try to find solutions, the solutions is to play the players we have.
