Pep Guardiola admits he feels sorry for Julen Lopetegui following his sacking at Real Madrid but admits the 52-year-olds exit was inevitable.
Madrid confirmed Lopeteguis departure on Monday evening and have replaced him with their Castilla coach Santiago Solari on a temporary basis.
Madrid had suffered five defeats in their last seven games under Lopetegui, while his final game in charge was the 5-1 loss to Barcelona at Camp Nou on Sunday.
Football I know what it is, we still here because we win games, if we dont win we will be sacked, Guardiola said after Manchester Citys 1-0 win over Tottenham on Monday evening.
Im sorry for Julen because hes a friend of mine. Hes an exceptional person.

I want to call him in the next few days.
It is what it is. Its football, nobody escapes that. When you have bad results you will not continue in big, big places like Barcelona or Madrid.

You either win in or row or dont have the chance to continue.
But in football youll have another chance.
Julen will have another chance to show his value again, like he did with Porto and the national team with Spain.
I wish him all the best, of course.
