David Luiz has hit back at an Instagram post highlighting his worrying stats for the season following Chelseas crushing 3-1 defeat to Tottenham.

The 31-year-old was arguably Chelseas worst player at Wembley and was slammed for his part in Harry Kane 16th-minute goal, as well as Son Heung-mins solo effort which put Spurs out of sight just after half time.

Luiz dodged out the way of the ball for Kanes strike and recklessly lunged in on Son as the South Korean slalomed his way towards Kepa Arrizabalagas net for Tottenhams third goal.

The Brazilian has started all 13 of Chelseas league matches while Maurizio Sarri has been in charge, but there were calls for him to be dropped in the aftermath of his horror show at Wembley.

One post on Instagram even suggested Sarri should search for a new central defender in January considering Luiz has been at fault for a staggering 63% of all the goals Chelsea have conceded this term.

Luiz, no shrinking violet, responded to the post from his official account.

And the 28 points we had won?? Leaders always take the responsibility, no problem!!! he replied.

Sarri defended Luiz after the centre-back appeared to dodge out the way of Kanes first-half strike.

I dont know, maybe the goalkeeper didnt see the ball, the Italian said following the defeat.

I think that David was afraid to touch the ball and change the direction of the ball.

But we were passive in all the match, and so it was only a question of minutes.

Luiz admitted Sarri was not happy the changing room following Chelseas defeat.

[Sarri] has been, many times, angrier when weve won. Its true. Nobody is happy. Of course the coach is not happy, the defender said.

He always tries to do his best for us, and we try to do our best for him. Of course, hes not happy like every single player is not happy.

But I think its good for us to understand, to remind us that the Premier League is never easy. Its not easy to win any game.

Like I said, we didnt play well. We played really badly, we didnt have the same intensity as in the other games.

The good thing is that we have another game next week, so an opportunity to recover and gain some points.

Then, soon, we have City, a tough team, the top club in the table. So we can try and make the gap a bit smaller then.
