Fellow defender Rob Holding is set for an extended spell on the sidelines after suffering a cruciate ligament injury, while Danny Welbeck is still recovering after having surgery on his ankle.
Following Arsenals narrow victory over Huddersfield, Emery praised his teams patience and said there was more to come from the Gunners.
It was a tough match, like many matches, and today it is important because we didnt have rhythm but still won, he said.
Im very happy with the result. It was hard for us to control the match today. Patience is the key word. I wanted us to win more quickly but we needed to be patient.
We can improve more and today we spoke that we want to win matches with more control. But we are very competitive and showed character.
