Laurent Blanc Manchester Uniteds strongest candidate for interim position after Jose Mourinho axed
Laurent Blanc is the strongest contender to take over as Manchester Uniteds interim manager, according to reports.
Jose Mourinho was dismissed from his position on Tuesday and United intend to appoint an interim coach within the next 48 hours.
Michael Carrick has been promoted to head coach for the time being, but will be downgraded once the interim manager arrives.

The Mirror claim Blanc is leading the charge to be the temporary man in charge, as he has strong links to the club.
Mourinho was axed after the clubs worst ever start to a Premier League season amid concerns the Portuguese had no long-term plans for the club.
Blanc spent two years at United as a player, retiring from football in 2003 after winning the Premier League title with the Red Devils.
The Frenchman is popular within United and has had managerial spells with Bordeaux, the France national team and Paris Saint-Germain.

United currently sit sixth in the league table and are licking their wounds after a humbling 3-1 defeat to Liverpool last Sunday.
Mourinhos exit will cost the club £24million, but the Red Devils remain determined to land their No.1 target Mauricio Pochettino.
Blanc is now the bookies favourite to take charge at United, with Betfair offering even odds on the 53-year-old arriving at United this week.
