Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirms he wants Manchester United job on permanent basis

Manchester United caretaker boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admits he doesnt want to leave the club and has confirmed he would take the position on a permanent basis.

The Norwegian joined Sir Matt Busby in becoming just the second United boss to win his first four league games at the club with a 2-0 win against Newcastle on Wednesday.

Solskjaer was announced as caretaker boss after Jose Mourinhos departure and the club want to appoint Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino as manager in the summer.

However, Metro.co.uk understands Solskjaer will be considered for the post should Pochettino turn the job down and the 45-year-old says he doesnt want to leave.

I dont want to (leave) – of course I dont, Solskjaer said.

Its such a great bunch of players, fantastic atmosphere, but its the next game, its the next game.

Im doing my job as long as Im here. If you win four you can win another four with this club.

Thats the challenge, thats the standard we know. That used to be the challenge from the gaffer (Sir Alex Ferguson).

Solskjaers arrival has marked a resurgence for a large part of the United squad and nobody has benefitted as much as Marcus Rashford.

The striker continued his hot streak with a goal against the Magpies and Solskjaer praised the youngster for his composure in front of goal.

He was calm, composed and just passed it past the goalkeeper, said Solskjaer.

But his free-kicks, that the first one against Cardiff, and then he does it again, hes got a great hit. He must have been watching Cristiano Ronaldo when he was practising.
