Eddie Hearn criticises Deontay Wilder over Dominic Breazeale death taunts
Eddie Hearn has criticised heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder for comments he made about Dominic Breazeale suggesting he could kill the 33-year-old in their upcoming fight.
The Bronze Bomber will take on Breazeale in Brooklyn on May 18 in the mandatory defence of his WBC title and has made a number of distasteful comments in the build-up.
Wilder told Breazeale to make some funeral arrangements during a heated press conference, as well as channelling Ivan Drago by shouting, if he dies, he dies as he left the stage.
Hearn felt the comments were in poor taste, telling iFL TV: I just think, on comments like that, this is a sport where anything can happen and terrible things have happened in the ring. And I just think, if something bad happened, and youve said that, youll probably regret that for the rest of your life.

Some things get said in the heat of the moment, hes a very emotional guy Wilder – or hes a very good actor, might be a bit of both actually.

But for me, and this will probably sound boring, I would rather try and let this fighters inspire a generation of young people and be role models, rather than talk about opponents making funeral arrangements. I think its bad for the sport.
But hes the bad guy. He wants to try and build this fight, build the excitement. But if anything happened in the ring, and you said that, youre going to live an unhappy life.
A rematch between Wilder and Tyson Fury will have to wait, with the Gypsy King facing Tom Schwarz instead, and Hearn was hugely critical of the fight, continuing: Its a dreadful fight.
