Michael van Gerwen won his 29th European Tour title on Sunday night as he beat Rob Cross 8-6 in the final of the European Darts Open.

The world number one was pushed hard by Cross, but got over the line thanks to a superb performance that saw him average 104.79 and hit a 170 checkout along the way.

Voltage also averaged over a ton in a cracking challenge, which saw him hit five maximums to Van Gerwens three.

However, MVGs doubling was fantastic, hitting eight out of 13 attempts at the outer-ring, to survive the battling challenge of Cross who had leveled the match at 6-6.
