Huddersfield fans give players standing ovation as relegation is confirmed after Crystal Palace defeat
Huddersfields away support stood to applaud their players off the pitch at Crystal Palace after their relegation from the Premier League was confirmed.
The Terriers produced another lacklustre display as second-half goals from Luka Milivojevic and Patrick van Aanholt secured a 2-0 win for Roy Hodgsons men at Selhurst Park.
Victories for Burnley and Southampton in Saturdays other fixtures meant Huddersfield equaled the record for the earliest relegation in a Premier League campaign.
Derby County are the only other team to be relegated as early as March when they plummeted into the Championship in the 2007/08 season.

While Jan Siewerts side will be playing Championship football once again next season, their fans that made the trip to Palace remained upbeat after the final whistle.

Huddersfield captain Christopher Schindler has promised fans that the side will give their to make the end of the season as positive as possible.
Its very frustrating. It is hard to find the right words. I didnt know [that the relegation was official] until you just told me, but we have to be realistic. We knew from 6-8 weeks ago it is going to be hard and we need a miracle, he told Sky Sports following the defeat.
Im empty at the moment. This season weve spent so much energy especially in the head. If we see the season retrospectively at the front and back, we were not good enough to stay in the best league in the world.
Weve got the task to end as best as possible to give our supporters the best time, to bring the season to an end in a good way.
