Maurizio Sarri lucky to still be Chelsea manager, says Arsenal hero Paul Merson

Maurizio Sarri is lucky to still be in charge of Chelsea, according to former Arsenal star Paul Merson.

Sarri made a bright start to his managerial career at Stamford Bridge but was close to being sacked earlier in the year after a poor run of form.

While results have picked up, the Italian remains under huge pressure and was subjected to negative chants from Chelsea fans over the weekend.

The Blues fell behind to relegation battlers Cardiff City, but mounted a late comeback to snatch victory.

Reflecting on the match, Arsenal hero Merson told Sky Sports: At Chelsea, Im not sure about the manager.

Hes lucky to be in charge. Neil Warnock can say Cardiff were unlucky, well Maurizio Sarri and Chelsea were lucky.

With the team he picked hed have done well to keep his job had they lost at Cardiff. Then there were the substitutions and the fact Callum Hudson-Odoi didnt get on.

He was very fortunate in the end. Despite all the negativity they should still have enough to beat Brighton at Stamford Bridge.
