Real Madrid set price for Manchester United target Raphael Varane
Real Madrid are determined to put off potential suitors for Raphael Varane by slapping an outlandish price tag on his head.
The Spanish giants have no intention of letting the French World Cup winner leave, despite him requesting a summer exit.
Zinedine Zidane has made it crystal clear he wants the 25-year-old to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu and Real chiefs are backing their managers wishes and will demand an exorbitant fee for any departure to become possible.
Varane has a £429million release clause, according to The Mirror, and Real Madrid will insist on that being activated for any deal to be done.
The current world transfer record is held by Neymar, who joined Paris Saint-Germain from Barcelona in a remarkable £198m deal – a fee that would be doubled if any side were to trigger Varanes release clause.
United and Juventus are the favourites to sign him and its thought the player prefers a move to the Premier League as he seeks a new challenge.

For Varane to get his wish, he will need Madrid to relax their stance, with United thought to be considering a £100m bid for his services.
Zidane outlined his hopes to keep the four-time Champions League winner on Tuesday.
I do not want a Real Madrid without Varane, said Zidane. He is a young player who has been here for eight years.
He has not told me anything, if he is annoyed then these are things that happen in a players life.
