Rohit Sharma missed Mumbais Indian Premier League match against Kings XI after suffering a minor injury in training.

The India opener has endured a frustrating start to the 2019 IPL, failing to reach 50 in five innings.

His franchise, three-time champions Mumbai, have started well at least with three victories from five matches going into Wednesdays clash with Kings XI.

Mumbai Indians were made to make do without their captain, however, after he suffered a leg muscle spasm in training on Tuesday.

A statement from the IPL franchise said: Rohit has recovered significantly in the past 24 hours. But, as a precautionary measure, Mumbai Indians management has decided to rest Rohit for one match.

In Sharmas absence, West Indies star Kieron Pollard captained Mumbai.
