Three of Manchester Uniteds Spanish stars believe they have been treated unfairly during recent contract negotiations and feel their English counterparts have been given preferential treatment.

The futures of David de Gea, Juan Mata and Ander Herrera remain uncertain, while the likes of Luke Shaw, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Ashley Young have all signed lucrative new deals in recent months.

United activated an automatic 12-month extension clause in De Geas contract earlier this year to guard against the prospect of losing him for nothing in a years time, but the former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper is still seeking a significant pay rise that would bring him in line with the clubs top earner Alexis Sanchez.

With talks having stalled on his potential new deal, meanwhile, Herrera is on the verge of a signing a £200,000-a-week deal with Paris Saint-Germain, while Mata is said to be unhappy he has not been offered anything more than a one-year extension.

According to the Daily Mail, despite Mata and Herrera remaining popular members of the squad, the pair along with De Gea have formed a clique with other Spanish speaking members of the first team squad, leaving Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with a split dressing room.

The lack of harmony off the pitch appeared to manifest itself in Sundays calamitous display against Everton as United slumped to a 4-0 defeat, their sixth loss in eight matches after which Solskajer warned any under-performing players should seek another club in the summer.
