Manchester United make first move to sign Fluminense striker Pedro
Manchester United have begun talks to sign Fluminense striker Pedro, according to reports in Brazil.
The 21-year-old was close to signing for Real Madrid last year but his move was ended after he suffered a cruciate ligament injury which kept him sidelined for seven months.
According to Globoesporte, Manchester United were also interested in signing the forward, although they did not make a formal offer at the time.
But now a representative from United has approached Fluminense to get an update on Pedro’s current situation following his recovery from his severe knee injury.
Madrid were willing to pay €25 million (£22m) to sign Pedro but now Fluminense are not willing to sell their striker until after their presidential election on June 8.
