‘I’m being taken to Delhi’, tweets Chandra Shekhar Azad a day after his arrest in Hyderabad
NEW DELHI: A day after his arrest in Hyderabad, Chandra Shekhar Azad is being taken to Delhi, the dalit leader informed via Twitter.
On Sunday Azad lawyer Mehmood Pracha was arrested by Telangana police while he was on his way to attend an anti-CAA protest being organised by the alumni of Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) and All India Dalit Muslim Adivasi Progressive Front (AIDMPAF).
"Dictatorship is at its peak in Telangana. People's right to protest is being snatched. First, our people were beaten with lathis and now they have arrested me. Now they have brought me to the airport and sending me off to Delhi. The Bahujan samaj will never forget this humiliation, the Telangana chief minister should remember. I will come back soon," Azad tweeted.

As the police had denied permission for the public meeting, it took Azad and others accompanying him into custody and shifted them to various police stations.
Azad and lawyer Mehmood Pracha were detained after they stepped out of a hotel in Masab Tank to go to the public meeting venue at Mehdipatnam.
They were shifted from one police station to the other and some supporters following the police vehicle lost track of it. Though there were reports that they were taken to Bolarum or Medchal police stations, his supporters did not find him there.
Few supporters of the dalit leader were detained when they went to Hyderabad police commissioner's office and tried to stage a protest demanding to know his whereabouts.
