Soldier killed, three injured as Pak breaches truce along LoC in Poonch

JAMMU: A soldier was killed and three others injured as Pakistan violated ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmirs Poonch district on Saturday afternoon, resorting to unprovoked firing and shelling on forward posts and villages near the border, a defence spokesperson said. This is the third ceasefire violation by Pakistan in the same district in seven days.
“Around 3.45pm, Pakistani troops initiated firing with small arms and mortar shelling along the LoC in Poonchs Digwar sector, to which the Indian side retaliated effectively,” the defence spokesperson said. A soldier was killed while three others were injured in the fire exchange, said official sources.
The cross-border firing continued till the filing of this report.
