Flu jabs – Who Will Get Another One This Autumn?

More people are being offered flu jabs in the UK as the flu season draws to a close. This includes housebound people, care home residents, the over-75s, and front-line workers. The NHS is encouraging these people to get vaccinated against the flu.

The autumn Covid-19 booster vaccination programme is being rolled out across England this week, with thousands of care homes and private homes being visited by health teams. The vaccination is part of the NHS’s plan to boost the vaccination programme, which will see millions of people in the UK get it. The autumn dose of the vaccine is particularly important for people living in care homes or with compromised immune systems.

The new vaccine targets the Omicron variant and has been shown to protect against the dreaded virus. The autumn booster programme is the NHS’s largest vaccination drive to date. Over 26 million people will be covered by the programme, including the over 50s, those working in frontline healthcare, and people with compromised immune systems. In addition to these groups, the programme also covers household contacts aged five and older.

Over-75s

The UK health service has announced that over-75s are set to get another flu jab this autumn. This year’s campaign is being rolled out for 26 million people, including those with weakened immune systems. It will also be available to people who are over 50 and work in care homes. The autumn vaccination campaign is being offered at PCN vaccination sites across the UK.

The autumn vaccination campaign is designed to protect front-line healthcare workers and vulnerable populations from serious diseases brought by the virus. The UK health security agency said that it would be a good idea to get the vaccines at the right time of year for the best protection. The autumn dose will be the fifth for some people, following the spring jab.

The autumn booster will be available in care homes and housebound people from 5 September. The program will then be introduced for over-75s and health and social care workers on 12 September. Bookings can be made via the National Booking Service, which will be launched a week before the wider rollout.

Front-line workers

This autumn, the UK will offer a second dose of the Covid influenza vaccination to front-line health and social care workers. This new campaign is based on independent advice from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation. It will be available for front-line health and social care workers aged 50 and over, people in care homes for older people and unpaid carers.

In March, the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) recommended that vulnerable adults and front-line workers receive another Covid jab. This will give them the best protection possible over the winter period. In the last few years, NHS staff and volunteers have given over 126 million doses of Covid, with the first one being given to Maggie Keenan, a care home nurse from Coventry.

The new vaccine is called COVID-19 and will be offered to front line workers in Scotland and England. It will be given at the same time as the flu vaccine. This means that front line workers and vulnerable people will get the vaccine first. The first group to receive the jab will be sent letters next month, and appointments will begin in September.
