David May believes Alexis Sanchez needs to relax more if hes to rediscover his best form and insists the Chile international should stand still more.

The former Manchester United defender, who won two Premier League titles, two FA Cups and the Champions League during his time at United, thinks Sanchez has tried too hard since his arrival from Arsenal in the January transfer window and struggled to find any sort of form.

Sanchez has only scored once in a Manchester United shirt and was benched by Jose Mourinho for the clubs 2-0 FA Cup quarter-final win over Brighton.

May rates the 29-year-old highly and hopes to see him play his way back into the sort of form he displayed at Arsenal, but he advised Sanchez to take a step back rather than trying to be involved in everything.

Personally I think hes trying too hard, May told 888sport.

He wants to be involved in everything but he needs to be told that standing still is a good position.
