Adrien Rabiot has told Barcelona he wants to join the Catalan giants at the end of his Paris Saint-Germain contract, reports say.

Liverpool and Manchester City approached Rabiot in recent months, with the Reds thought to have made the Frenchman a big offer.

Rabiots PSG deal expires at the end of the season and the midfielder has turned down several attempts by the Ligue 1 side to agree a new contract.

With a host of clubs vying for his signature, Mundo Deportivo claim Rabiot has decided he wants to sign for Barcelona.

There have been several meetings between Barcelona chief Eric Abidal and Rabiots representatives.

Rabiot cannot enter into official talks with Barcelona until January, and no agreement can be signed until there is six months left on his PSG contract.

Metro.co.uk revealed in September Rabiot was considering a return to City.

Rabiot had a short spell in Citys academy as a 14-year-old and was open to joining Pep Guardiolas project in Manchester.

But the 23-year-old is more attracted to Barcelonas long-term vision and the prospect of playing alongside the likes of Lionel Messi.

Barcelona are planning a big summer window after a disappointing start to the current season.

Two unexpected La Liga defeats and three draws stalled Barcelonas title push, but the Spanish side are top of the league table.

But only a point separates Barcelona and Sevilla, and the capture of Rabiot will see out a long-term pursuit of the talented midfielder.
