Delhi Daredevils are seeking an unlikely turnaround in the Indian Premier League and it appears they have been ruthless in trying to achieve that objective.

Against Chennai Super Kings on Monday they will look for their third win of the campaign, and second-in-a-row. They beat Kolkata Knight Riders last time out with an astonishing display of hitting.

The architect of that win, in a way, was Gautam Gambhir. Gambhir was the captain who had led them to four defeats in five.

It was not the sort of form that Delhi had expected. Gambhir was supposed to have the nous and inspirational qualities to lead them to their first title. It has not worked out that way.

Delhi have been headless. With the bat they were attacking, but careless.

With the ball they have been the same and they have consistently gone round the park to concede big totals. It will be interesting to see if England pacer Liam Plunkett is able to reverse that trend.

Not surprisingly Gambhir has fallen on his sword. He might have been given a little nudge, even if he has insisted it was entirely his own decision.

Gambhir is a proud man and he would not have wanted any hint that it was anything but his call.

The new man is Shreyas Iyer who, along with his team-mates, seems to have been given a new lease of life. Could this be the leader Delhi have needed?

Against Kolkata he set the tone with the bat, producing a coruscating knock of 93 off 40 balls. Delhi posted an extraordinary 219 and won by 55 runs.

Iyer is 9-2 with Betfair Sportsbook to top score again. Thats worth a nibble, particularly as Gambhir gets a 10-3 quote with Ladbrokes and William Hill.

As the second favourite he is taking up a fair chunk of the book and he is not expected to play.

As for a win, they are 11-8 with Bet365. Chennai, beaten last time out by Mumbai Indians, are no better than 69-100 with Marathon Bet. Having started so well it will be interesting to see if they have peaked too soon.
