Manchester United make approach for Dennis Man, confirms Steaua Bucuresti president
Steaua Bucuresti president Gigi Becali has revealed that Manchester United are interested in signing Dennis Man.
Man, 19, only made his first-team debut for Steaua in 2016 but shot to prominence this season in Romania, scoring 12 goals in 47 appearances in all competitions.
Jose Mourinho was spotted at Bucharest Airport earlier this week and went on to watch Man in action at the Ilie Oana Stadium.
Man came on as a second-half substitute in Romanias 2-0 victory and it appears Mourinho may have made the trip specifically to keep an eye on the youngster.
Manchester United asked me about Dennis Man and I want €30million (£26m), Steaua president Becali claimed.
I know that they wont pay this amount, but the player isnt for sale.
The Red Devils announced the signings of Fred and Diogo Dalot earlier this week, with Mourinho determined to bring reinforcements to Old Trafford ahead of the 2018/19 campaign.
Fred, 25, joined United from Shakhtar Donetsk for a fee of around £52m, while 19-year-old full-back Dalot completed a £19m switch from Porto.
Mourinho has high hopes for Dalot and believes the Portugal Under-21 defender can become a great player for United.
Diogo is an extremely talented young defender with all the qualities to quickly become a great player for this club, Mourinho said.
He has all the attributes that a full-back needs: physicality, tactical intelligence and technical quality, combined with a Porto Academy mentality which prepares players for the maturity they need at the professional level.
In his age group, he is the best full-back in Europe and we all believe he has a bright future ahead of him at Manchester United.
