Manchester United renew interest in Diego Godin after failed deadline day move
Manchester United have reportedly renewed their interest in Diego Godin after missing out on the Atletico Madrid star in the summer.
Jose Mourinho was desperate to sign a centre-back ahead of the 2018/19 campaign but Uniteds board refused to pay over the odds for the likes of Toby Alderweireld, Harry Maguire and Jerome Boateng.
Godin, 32, widely regarded as one of Europes finest defenders, emerged as a late target and United triggered the €25million (£22.5m) release clause in his contract.
The Uruguayan snubbed Mourinhos advances, though, and reports suggested he was set to sign a new deal with Atleti.

However, the La Liga giants are yet to tie Godin down with a new contract and, according to The Mirror, United are keeping a close eye on the situation.
Talks between Godin and Atletico Madrid are ongoing, with the Spanish outfit desperate not to lose the defender for free at the end of the season.
Godin admitted back in August that he had received offers to leave Atletico Madrid in the summer.
Asked about rumours that he had already signed a new deal, he replied: I have not renewed.
I have had offers, although I have decided to stay for personal reasons and I am only thinking about the final.

But I have not extended my contract.
I saw that news came out but I do not know where it came from.
