Bayern Munich have told Chelsea they can sign Mats Hummels for £30million as long as they submit their offer by January 14.

The transfer window opens next week and Maurizio Sarri has told Sporting Director Marina Granovskaia, according to The Sun, that signing an experienced centre-half is his priority.

Gary Cahill, wanted by Arsenal and a clutch of Serie A clubs, will be allowed to leave, while Barcelona continue to track Andreas Christensen who has failed to make an impression under Sarri.

The former Napoli boss has deployed David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger as his first choice centre-half pairing but wants to add more experience to his backline and ramp up competition for places.

Hummels has slipped down the pecking order at Bayern in recent weeks amid reported concerns over his pace.

Chelsea are also said to be working on a move for Gonzalo Higuain in a deal which could see Alvaro Morata return to Serie A.

The FA Cup holders are also reportedly leading the race for Borussia Dortmund winger Christian Pulisic but any deal would have to wait until the summer and they could yet face competition from London rivals Arsenal.
